Earning an 11th place finish in the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway for Gillett Evernham Motorsports, A.J. Allmendinger added yet another strong finish to his resume. “It was good night finishing 11th, but it was a long hard-fought night," stated Allmendinger." Overall, from where we started in practice and the kind of weekend we had, tonight was great. Everybody at Gillett Evernham does a good job. They build good cars."
Heading into the 2009 season Allmendinger has yet to sign a contract with a race team. Allmendinger was let go by Red Bull Racing after the event at Kansas Speedway in September.
After being released by Red Bull Racing, Allmendinger participated in races for Michael Waltrip Racing and GEM. In his six races, the thankful Allmendinger collected three top-15 finishes all of which came for GEM. “I just want to thank everyone at GEM for giving me this opportunity as well as all the great partners that they have. It’s been really fun.” Allmendinger concluded, "Hopefully, this relationship can continue next year."
