Hall of Fame Searching For Additional Sponsorship

More and more teams are beginning to become affected by the condition of the U.S. economy. Hall of Fame Racing has been added to that list after it told it's employees that if the organization does not attract more sponsorship before the end of November, they will lay them off until sponsorship is attained.

With a partial schedule already in place with DLP for 2009, team general manager Tyler Epp informs that the team needs more in order to compete full time next season.

“At this point, I don’t have enough money to run next year, but I feel very good about what I’ve got going on,” Epp noted. “We just had a really honest conversation [with the employees]. I didn’t want to walk in the day before Thanksgiving and say, ‘Thanks for the year. Don’t come back after tomorrow.’”

Currently Hall of Fame Racing has yet to line-up a driver to take control of the No. 96 Toyota. After letting go of JJ Yeley, Ken Schrader took command of the car for the majority of the remaining season. Pleased with Schrader's efforts, Epp confirmed that he is on the list of potential drivers.

With drivers such as A.J. Allmendinger and Patrick Carpentier in the free agent pool, it should not be too hard to find a driver before February arrives.

“I can’t say enough about Ken Schrader and the job he’s done this year,” Epp said. “He’s certainly on the list.”

Next year the organization will not affiliate themselves with Joe Gibbs Racing, but will likely continue to feild Toyota's. Epp insured that the team would need to locate an engine supplier, and contract a body hanger.

“It’s been a rough year of transition, but that doesn’t change the intent and the model we’re trying to build,” Epp said of the partnership with JGR. “Whenever you merge two different groups, you have to compromise on things, and we don’t want to compromise [certain] things.”
