With the entire industry looking at ways to make the most of the current economic situation, Texas Motor Speedway has announced a $2 million project to transfer the backstretch into a lavish motorcoach facility. Being called Burnout Alley, this project is going to transform the backstretch of the speedway into 72 luxury RV hook-ups.
"Our demand for motor home space - even this year during a downturn economy - has continued to rise each and every year, and our fans have indicated to us that there was a need for this type of project," track president Eddie Gossage explained. "We pride ourselves at Texas Motor Speedway for providing what our fans want as well as our creativity, and Burnout Alley is a product of both. Once we got involved in the development of this project, we wanted to make Burnout Alley the ultimate RV area of any speedway race fans will ever visit."
The new Burnout Alley will include 72 gated sites that will be 30x60 feet, include full service water and electric hook-ups, live race feeds, concierge service - including grocery shopping, catering options, free wireless internet and 24-hour access to restrooms. Ticket packages for the new Burnout Alley go for a total cost of $15,000 and will be good for both NASCAR weekends and the IndyCar Series race. For the NASCAR weekends, those taking advantage of the new facility will also receive 10 VIP passes, 10 pre-race passes for the race, 10 pit and infield passes, two passes for The Speedway club, 10 souvenir programs and three reserved parking spots near the site. The new addition to the speedway will eliminate an approximate 21,022 seats on the backstretch, making the new capacity in that section 9,850 - down from 30,850. Gossage believes the new addition will make up for the lost seats and the track will have no problem selling out its two Cup dates. "With the reduction in seating on the backstretch in addition to the special pricing we also announced today, we're expecting those tickets to go fast and also put a premium on securing a frontstretch ticket for the NASCAR race weeks," Gossage concluded.
