Dover Unveils New Track Logo
Thursday, 11 December 2008 07:14

After celebrating "40 Fast Years," this Wednesday the Dover International Speedway debuted a new logo in preparation for the 2009 season. The one-mile concrete oval located in Dover, Delaware is one of the toughest and most respected tracks on the NASCAR circuit and is known for its fast and exciting racing.

The redesigned logo features the word "Dover" in bold red with a checkered flag waving above the letter "v." The words "International Speedway" appears centered below the logo.

"The new logo reflects the all-new Dover," Denis McGlynn, president and CEO of Dover Motorsports, Inc. explained. "Coming off two consecutive years of significant capital improvements and the energy created by our 40th anniversary season, we thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to update and modernize the logo. The "Monster Makeover" isn't just a capital improvement project; it's a plan to revitalize the speedway as a whole, and this new logo is another example of that."

Dover Motorsports, Inc has committed itself to a multi-year, multi-million dollar investment in order to revamp the already top-notch facility in the heart of Delaware. A new skybox complex and an expanded Infield Media Center were completed in 2007, while 2008 saw the introduction of the Monster Monument at Victory Plaza. The 46-foot tall statue of "Miles the Monster" greets fans like at no other facility. Other investment projects to the speedway include a new main entrance for race weekend, further development to the FanZone display area, as well as a new emergency services building.

Since its first race in 1969, Dover International Speedway has been one of the best stops on the NASCAR circuit. The "Monster Mile" has provided many an exciting race - think back to Roush Fenway Racing battle this September - and is a favorite of fans and drivers alike.

Tickets for the May 29-31, 2009 NASCAR race weekend are currently on sale. That weekend will feature Sprint Cup, Nationwide and the Camping World Truck Series. Tickets for Dover's September 25-27, 2009 events - featuring the Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World (not truck) Series - are set to go on sale Monday, December 15, 2008, just in time for the holiday season.

A truly unique fan experience, Dover International Speedway offers ticket insurance for all events, special three-day ticket packages,
discounts for buying early, all-inclusive hospitality packages and a number of different payment options.
