Bruton Smith's Daughter Charged With DWI
Thursday, 18 December 2008 10:21

News got worse for racing mogul Bruton Smith's daughter Anna Lisa Smith. The 25-year-old was found around 5:10 a.m., Wednesday December 10, 2008 thrown from her vehicle near Lake Norman. While there was no initial word as to the cause of the incident, Huntersville, NC police charged Smith Tuesday with driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license.

According to reports, the Huntersville police responded to the initial call of debris on Gilead Road off of Beatties Ford Road in the Lake Norman area early last week. Once on the scene, officers discovered a vehicle nearly 200 feet off the road. As a result of the incident, Smith was thrown from the wreckage and was discovered about 40 feet from the car.

Taken to Carolinas Medical Center after the officers arrived on the scene, Smith was listed in serious condition last week.

Not her first run-in with the law, Smith is pending trial on charges placed in September of speeding and driving while her license was revoked.

Plans were in the works to have the daughter of SMI chairman Bruton Smith behind the wheel of a National Hot Rod Association Top Fuel team, but no word as to how the recent charges will affect this deal.
