Monday, NASCAR announced Karen Leetzow, Paula Miller and Susan Schandel had been promoted to the position of vice president, effective immediately.
"These are well-deserved appointments," NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France explained. "I'm proud of the expertise and talent we have throughout NASCAR.These appointments further strengthen our leadership team." Leetzow was promoted to the position of vice president/deputy general counsel. Previously the assistant general counsel for NASCAR, the American University, Washington College of Law graduate has been with NASCAR since 1999.
A newcomer to the sanctioning body, Miller has only been with NASCAR since October. Previously the managing director of corporate and human services for International Speedway Corporation (ISC), Miller will now become the vice president of human resources and organizational development. With degrees from Ohio and Purdue, Miller worked for General Electric in the human resources department for thirteen years. Schandel also came is a new face at NASCAR, joining the organization if February as the chief accounting officer. Also coming over from ISC, Schandel served as a senior vice president after fifteen years of service. The Penn State University graduate was promoted to vice president/chief accounting officer on Monday.
