With negotiations between Gillett Evernham Motorsports and AJ Allmendinger underway, Allmendinger has a race lined-up outside of the Cup Series.

Michael Shank Racing has placed Allmendinger behind the wheel in the famedRolex 24 at Daytona for the fourth consecutive year.

After sitting on the outside pole last year, Allmendinger is thrilled to be able to work Shank and his team.

"I really like Mike Shank and working with his whole team is always a great experience," said Allmendinger. "This is just one of those races that you want to have on your resume. There are so many guys who come out for this from so many parts of the sport, its a great event that just keeps getting bigger. Hopefully we can go all the way and end up on top."

The 47th running of the Rolex 24 will begin on January 24, 2009 at 3:30pm EST at Daytona International Speedway.
