Increased demand for tickets led Atlanta Motor Speedway officials to move up the date tickets went on sale to the general public. Starting Wednesday, January 7, fans were able to purchase tickets for this much anticipated event.
After years of petitioning, the fall Atlanta race was moved to the Labor Day weekend slot in an attempt to draw more excitement and sell more tickets, and judging by the decision to bump up the on-sale date for tickets the move was the right one. In an attempt to draw more attention and sell even more tickets, the Sprint Cup Series event was moved to Sunday night under the lights.
"Night racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway is something NASCAR fans have wanted for a very long time," Ed Clark president and general manager of Atlanta Motor Speedway explained. "We're thrilled to host this race and bring Labor Day weekend racing back to the South. This weekend is going to be a memorable moment in Atlanta Motor Speedway's storied history." The Labor Day NASCAR weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway will feature a NASCAR Nationwide Series race and Hot Shot NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying on Saturday, Sept. 5 and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race under the lights on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Fans planning on attending the Labor Day weekend events can now purchase tickets by visiting www.atlantamotorspeedway.com, or through an authorized Ticketmaster retailer, including www.ticketmaster.com. To make things easier on fans during these tough economic times, the speedway is offering a number of different options. For the first time the speedway is offering a payment plan to purchase tickets. Fans are able to reserve their Sprint Cup Series tickets for only $20, pay half of the balance by April 5 and the remaining balance on June 5. There are also a number of other options available to fans that want to be a part of history. Tickets in the Elliott Grandstand are available for $39 for an adult ticket and only $19 for students. Also, for all of the Earnhardt fans out there, $88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan section tickets are only sale now in the Earnhardt Grandstand.
