Last season David Ragan surprised many by taking the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford to a 13th place finish in the point standings. In his sophomore season, Ragan amassed six top-5 and 14 top-10 finishes en route to the highest available position for a non-Chase driver.
With UPS on board the No. 6 Fusion in 2009, Ragan looks to carry the momentum he established in 2008 going into this season. "In 2009 you can definitely expect us to pick up where we left off and hit the ground running," stated Ragan. "2008 was successful, but I think 2009 can be even better. Luckily for me my team has pretty much stayed intact from last season. All my over-the-wall guys are the same and our pit stops were great at the end of the year and I see no reason why they won't be this season. Everyone is excited to have UPS on board and we can't wait to get back to the track."
In 2008 Ragan struggled to find his groove at the road courses. In five road course races in both the Cup and Nationwide Series, Ragan assembled an average finish of 19.6, with a high finish of ninth coming at the Nationwide event at Watkins Glen. With the new year beginning, Ragan has set a resolution to heighten his results on road courses, and to make the Chase in 2009. "My biggest challenge this year will probably be road courses," said Ragan. "I'm going to try and get out there some and practice in any sort of vehicle I can, I think the more practice I get the more comfortable I'll be. My three main goals for this season is to win my first race, make the Chase and improve on road courses. All of this is definitely achievable with the awesome support staff I have behind me at Roush."
