Leaving A Lasting Paw Print

NASCAR drivers are some of the most giving athletes in all of sports. Almost every driver in the garage either has his own foundation or is aligned with a national philanthropy effort they support. Kyle and Pattie Petty have become the shining stars of NASCAR's giving community by creating the Victory Junction Gang Camp, and Greg and Nicole Biffle are following in their footsteps, however leaving paw prints behind them.

Founded in 2005, The Greg Biffle Foundation serves to create awareness and raise funds for the proper care and well-being of animals. Perhaps you received a NASCAR Pets Calendar this year for the holidays, featuring your favorite racing personalities with their families and pets. Proceeds from these annual favorites, among other things, directly contribute to the support of humane societies and animal shelters throughout the nation.

This year, the Foundation stepped up their work and made grant donations to more than 100 humane societies and shelters around the United States. After receiving more than 200 applicants for the grants, the Foundation was able to whittle the list down to 112 animal welfare agencies covering 37 states and more than doubling the number awarded the year before. Those facilities receiving the grants will put the donations towards spay/neuter programs, veterinarian care, pet supplies, etc.

"We are very excited to be able to make donations to these organizations that work so tirelessly on a daily basis to improve animal welfare," Greg Biffle Foundation Executive Director Emily DiNunzio explained. "Greg and Nicole find much joy in being able to assist these organizations."

One such organization is the Carolina Animal Adoption League in South Carolina. With the recent donation, the organization will expand their adoption options as well as battle the issue of animal overpopulation by implementing a rigorous spay/neuter program, all while assisting those with lower incomes.

"Greg and Nicole have generously given of their time and resources to make a difference in the lives of animals," Jodi Geschickter of the Carolina Animal Adoption League went on to say. "As a rescuer, I can say that encouragement is essential - and they have been encouragers. They've given encouragement to each of us."
