Action Ready To Heat Up In Daytona
Saturday, 07 February 2009 08:38

While Friday's attention was spent on those competing in the Budweiser Shootout, the rest of the Sprint Cup Series teams spent the day working on their rides and going through NASCAR technical inspection. There are 57 cars attempting to qualify for the 51st running of the Daytona 500 this year, meaning competition is as tough as ever.

Teams were working hard throughout the day on Friday, working on a variety of things and eagerly anticipating their turn out on the track.  Following Friday's final practice session for the Shootout, teams moved their Daytona 500 rides into the garage stalls and continued working on finding speed.

The cars will hit the track for their first practice session starting at 10:30am E.T., with another, longer session following at 1:30pm E.T. Teams will be working on tweaking their rides to run as fast as possible for their two-lap qualifying run on Sunday.

Following the second practice session on Saturday, the ARCA RE/MAX cars will hit the track for the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at 4:15pm E.T.

After the conclusion of the eighty-lap event, the stars will shine as the twenty-eight drivers competing in the Budweiser Shootout are introduced to the crowd. The green flag drops on the Budweiser Shootout at 8:10pm E.T. and will officially kick off the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.
