The Official NASCAR Members Club announced last week the winner of the 2008 NASCAR Biggest Fan contest at the Daytona International Speedway. Four finalists made the trip to the "World Center of Racing" to find out if they would be named NASCAR's Biggest Fan. Out of hundreds of entries, it was Julie Geary of Lindenwold, New Jersey who took home the grand prize and $25,000 from the Official NASCAR Members Club. "This is absolutely fantastic," Geary explained. "I couldn't imagine that I won first prize. This has been such a great experience. The whole thing has been awesome. I can't thank NASCAR Biggest Fan and the Official NASCAR Members Club enough. This is going to make a huge difference in my life."
Contestants were invited to register for the ONMC, post up to five videos and view and rate others. While Geary took the top-prize, the three other finalists did not go home empty handed. Nick Deweese of Chesapeake, Va. was the first runner-up and took home $10,000 on behalf of the ONMC. "I won $10,000 for doing what I do every day, getting paid for doing what I love - being me," Deweese said. "It's awesome. I'm glad the ONMC put it on, because it gives a normal everyday guy like myself a chance at some money, and I was on the stage here at Daytona in front of all these people. I love it." Dennis O'Keefe of Charlotte, NC won third-place and $5,000. On the way down to Daytona, O'Keefe's car broke a transmission, making the money that much more worth it. "Fantastic," O'Keefe said of winning third-place. "It's been a lot of fun. The last four months have been kind of trying, but what a great time! I'll be back in this next year!" Fourth-place went to Dennis Muldoon of Spring Hill, Fla. "Positively incredible," said Muldoon of his $1,000 prize. "I've had one of the best times I have ever had in my life here today. It's great." The ONMC will launch the 2009 NASCAR Biggest Fan contest on March 15, 2009. Home for the contest is www.nascarbiggestfan.com. Don't forget, you have a chance to be named the "Official Hardcore Race Fan of Atlanta Motor Speedway" through our ticket contest on HardcoreRaceFans.com.
