Brian Vickers Ready For Vegas

After collecting the pole position in qualifying for last Sunday's Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway, Brian Vickers was forced to the back when he had to switch to his back-up car.

Over the course of the 500 mile event Vickers was able to make his way to the front and collect a top-10 finish.

“It was a tremendous accomplishment to finish where we did, coming from the back. The whole team worked hard. They deserve it,” Vickers said.

Climbing up the point standings ladder 16 spots, Vickers moved up to 26th due to his Auto Club efforts. Heading to Las Vegas the team has built some momentum heading into this weekend's Shleby 427.

“You can throw Daytona away, so this is a strong start to the season,” stated Vickers, who climbed 14 spots in points to 26th. “A top 10 can really give this team some momentum and confidence heading into the intermediate tracks, which make up most of the schedule."

Vickers does not have the best resume at the 1.5 mile speedway. With a best finish of 22nd coming in March of 2006, look for Vickers and the No. 83 team to replace that statistic with something much more satisfying.
