On his opening lap in Friday's first Cup Series practice session, Mark Martin climbed atop the leader board and remained there after turning a lap of 30.180 seconds at a speed of 183.698 miles per hour.

Kevin Harvick took his No. 29 Reese's Chevrolet to the second spot in the opening practice. Harvick traveled around Atlanta Motor Speedway in 30.253 seconds at a speed of 183.255 miles per hour.

Brian Vickers, David Stremme and Juan Pablo Montoya rounded out the top-5.

Defending race winner Kyle Busch piloted the No. 18 Toyota Camry to the 19th position.
