Saturday, 07 March 2009 11:21

For the past few days, we at HardcoreRaceFans.com have been taking a look back at some of the most memorable of the previous ninety-nine races at the historic Atlanta Motor Speedway. Hidden in the heart of Georgia, this speedway has played host to some of the most dramatic and exciting races in all of NASCAR history. Honoring its 100th event, we have asked you the Hardcore Race Fans to vote on your most memorable Atlanta race - the 1978 Dixie 500, the 1992 Hooters 500, the 2000 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 and the 2001 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 - on our weekly Poll Question. As of Saturday morning, it has become clear the fans are split.

In a dead heat with forty percent of the fan vote are the 1992 Hooters 500 and the 2001 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500. Two of the most memorable and historic races in all of NASCAR history, both of these events have left their impact on the sport and made lasting impressions on the Hardcore Race Fans throughout the nation.

The 1992 Hooters 500 is seen by many as one of the greatest events ever held and a turning point in the history of the sport. The final event of the 1992 season, the championship came down to a battle between Davey Allison, Bill Elliott and Alan Kulwicki. On top of the suspense of the championship, the race also marked the final race of the "King" Richard Petty's illustrious career and the beginning of a youngster named Jeff Gordon's.

The 2001 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 has sparked emotion in ever Hardcore Race Fan and brought many to tears. Just three weeks after the tragic and unexpected death of Dale Earnhardt Sr., a photo finish between Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon had many looking to the skies.

Now it is time for you to make your voice heard. We want you the Hardcore Race Fans to vote for your most memorable Atlanta race and decide which of these two events we take "A Look Back" at for Sunday morning. Be sure to cast your vote and tell your friends and family to do the same. Make your voice heard and let us know what you think is the most memorable of the previous ninety-nine events at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
