Roush Fenway Teammates Pace Morning Practice
Saturday, 07 March 2009 12:39

With overcast skies and a mist in the air, the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series took to the track Saturday morning for their second practice session of the weekend. The 45 minute practice saw teams work on race setup and perfecting the handling of the car before Sunday's race.

Greg Biffle's No. 16 3M Ford Fusion was atop the leader board when the red and black flag flew to end the session. The driver fourth in the series standings ran a total of eighteen laps, with his fastest coming on his first. With three top-5s and seven top-10s in twelve races at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Biffle hopes to earn his first win at the 1.5-mile track and will do starting from the fifth-spot.

Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards is looking to jumpstart his 2009 season with a strong run at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. Posting the second-fastest time of the session, Edwards ran a fast-lap of 30.211 seconds at a speed of 183.509 mph.

Penske Racing's David Stremme third-quick in the session, while Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth rounded out the top-5. Pole sitter Mark Martin was fifteenth-fastest in the session.

The Cup cars are currently on the track for their final hour-long session before Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500. Be sure to check back to HardcoreRaceFans.com for all of the latest news and results LIVE from the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
