Driver of the No. 1 Bass Pro Shop/Tracker Boats Chevrolet Martin Truex Jr. has gone to Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin, Georgia as a result of a small kidney stone. After running both practice sessions on Saturday, Truex left the track and headed to the hospital. The 28-year-old driver is expected to pass the kidney stone tonight and is expected to compete in Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500. Truex will be unable to take any high-dose medication for the pain and still drive in tomorrow's event since it would violate NASCAR's substance-abuse policy.
After visiting the infield care center for a pain in the side, Truex was transferred to the local hospital for further evaluation. The Earnhardt Ganassi Racing driver is slated to start tomorrow's 500-mile event from the 23rd-spot. Be sure to check back to HardcoreRaceFans.com for any further developments.
