To celebrate the 100th race held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, HardcoreRaceFans.com partnered with the track to name Johnny Overman the Official Hardcore Race Fan of Atlanta Motor Speedway. After submitting his winning entry, Overman and three of his friends Steve Martin, Michael Smith and Denny Petrey made the trip from Newport News, Virginia to the 1.5-mile track snuggled in the heart of Georgia. Enjoying access to pit road before the race, Overman explained his favorite part of the weekend was seeing the cars shuffle in and out of the garage and onto the track. Seeing the sport from a side he had never experienced before, this true Hardcore Race Fan was all smiles.
"Being down in the pits was nice, real exciting," Overman said of experience at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. "When they come through that alley way to get back on the track theyre moving now dont get in the way!" Taking their seats along the frontstretch, Overman and his fellow Hardcore Race Fans geared up for their first Atlanta race. "Watching the practice, watching the trucks run and all," Overman added, "but watching that race start and watching that race run yesterday was really, really awesome." Surrounded by fellow fans, Overmans friends were quick to tell those around them about Johnnys honorary title. "Everybody's been respecting me because my crew was like, Watch out for him, hes a HardcoreRaceFans.com winner." Going through tough times like many others, this weekend provided Mr.Overman and his three friends an escape from the every day and an experience not soon forgotten. "It was awesome," Overman said thinking back on his weekend. "When the race started yesterday I looked at the old boy next to me and said, Hell Yeah! He just started laughing. "
