Vickers Ready To Get Back To Work
Wednesday, 18 March 2009 08:15

brian-vickersWith a strong start to the 2009 season, Brian Vickers and his No. 83 Red Bull Racing team is eager to get back to work this weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway.  Despite his incident with Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the season-opening Daytona 500, Vickers has run well week-in and week-out to put himself eleventh in the series standings.

“The 83 team has gotten off to a good start this season,” Vickers pointed out. “We’ve overcome a tremendous amount of adversity to get to where we are. I’m so proud of this team — they never give up. We all enjoyed a weekend off, but now it’s back to work. We don’t want to lose focus or the momentum that is on our side right now.”

Three top-10s in the last three races have put this team in a strong position heading into this weekend’s race at the Bristol Motor Speedway.  In its third year of existence, the Red Bull Racing team has gone from struggling to make races, to running better to now contending for wins.

Heading to Bristol, Vickers hopes to improve his record at the high-banked half mile track.  In nine events, the driver of the No. 83 Toyota has yet to score a top-10.   His best finish came in 2005 driving for Hendrick Motorsports.  Vickers finished 39th in this event last year after an incident knocked him out of contention.

“You learn what moves you can make and when you can make them,” Vickers described of Bristol. “It’s basically managing risk. Risk versus reward — every lap, every turn. You’ve got to be aggressive and take some opportunities. But at the same time, it’s a small race track and accidents happen, and they happen often.”

If Vickers can keep his nose clean and the car out of trouble, this team should be a factor come Sunday afternoon.  Throughout the early stages of the season this organization has shown they are committed to winning races and running up front and that should continue this weekend at Bristol.hardcore-race-fans.com
