Kyle Busch Cleans House At Bristol
Sunday, 22 March 2009 16:10

kyle-buschAfter dominating for much of the afternoon, Kyle Busch was finally able to seal the deal and put his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 Toyota in Victory Lane at the Bristol Motor Speedway.  Leading 378 of 503 laps on the day, Busch led the way for JGR as he crossed the finish line just ahead of teammate Denny Hamlin.

"It's pretty awesome," Busch said after climbing from his winning race car.  "We should have won here last fall, we should have won here yesterday.

"Overall just a great day," Busch went on to say.  "The car handled well and we made adjustments all day."

Busch dominated last August's Sharpie 500, leading 415 laps only to finish second to rival Carl Edwards.  During Saturday's Nationwide Series race Busch clearly had the most dominant car, leading 156 laps.  After a tire rolled away on his final stop of the day, Busch was forced to swallow a disappointing 6th-place finish.

"This is a little bit of redemption here," the winning driver added.  "This place probably owes me a bit."

Holding off Hamlin on a green-white-checkered restart, Busch gave owner Joe Gibbs a 1-2 finish after coming up short the past two years.

"We just had a long run car," Hamlin explained.  "We just came up a little short.  Congrats to kyle and we're glad to get JGR a 1-2 finish."

Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were able to come home third and fourth, while Kasey Kahne rounded out the top-5.

The race was slowed nine times for caution flags and there were only sixteen cars on the lead lap when the checkered flag flew.  Next week the stars of .the NASCAR Spint Cup Series head off to the hills of Virginia to tackle the paper-clip short track at Martinsville.  hardcore-race-fans.com
