While it many not be the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 weekend, the Charlie Daniels Band will be rocking out this May at the Richmond International Raceway. One of the most popular bands amongst Hardcore Race Fans, the band will perform on Friday, May 1 at 5:15 p.m. ET for free at the Lipton Tea display area.
Formed in 1970, the Charlie Daniels Band has recorded a number of hits including, “Devil Went Down To Georgia,” and “Uneasy Rider.” The group won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal in 1979 for “Devil Went Down To Georgia” and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008.
They will also perform the National Anthem prior to the start of the Lipton Tea 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race following their concert. A top-notch racing facility, the Richmond International Raceway is always looking for ways to give fans more bang for their buck. The free concert by the Charlie Daniels Band is simply one of the many free activities fans attending the May 1-2 race weekend can look forward to. Various sponsor displays will be scattered throughout the track’s midway, offering fans numerous give-a-ways and product samples. All parking on raceway property is free for the entire weekend.
