Jim France To Step Down As ISC CEO
Tuesday, 14 April 2009 12:36

jim-franceThe Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday that Jim France will step down from his role as chief executive officer of the International Speedway Corporation (ISC), effective June 1, 2009. France’s niece, Lesa Kennedy will take over the position.

Son of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr., Jim France joined ISC in 1959 and worked in all aspects of the organization. Elected to the ISC board in 1970, France went on to serve the company in a variety of ways including, secretary, assistant treasurer, vice president, chief operating officer and executive president, and was named the president of ISC in 1987.

After stepping down as CEO on June 1, France will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors as chairman.

“While I will miss being involved in the daily operations of ISC, I will continue to provide strategic oversight and support to Lesa and the rest of the ISC senior management team,” the Observer reported France said in a memo to ISC employees. “Under Lesa’s outstanding leadership, the company’s Board of Directors has every confidence that ISC will remain a dynamic and successful company for many years to come.”

The Observer also indicated a number of other positions at ISC will change hands along with the shift at the top. John Saunders, the executive vice president and chief operating officer of ISC, will serve as ISC president (vacated by Lesa Kennedy). Roger VanDerSnick, senior vice president of marketing and business operations, will reportedly become the executive vice president and chief operating officer. Daniel Houser will be promoted from vice president to senior vice president and will remain chief financial officer and treasurer.
