Every race has one. In fact, every race probably has hundreds if not thousands of them. Hardcore Race Fans partying and having a good time with large groups of friends. At the center of one such party was Zeb Haines.
The Raleigh, N.C.-native was joined by about ten other people as they grilled, laughed and had a few drinks before heading into the speedway for the race. Taking time to speak with HardcoreRaceFans.com – and catching flack from his friends – Zeb told of his annual trips to the races. Haines and his group of friends attend races throughout the year at tracks such as Martinsville, Charlotte and Richmond. Each time they go, these Hardcore Race Fans party it up big before and after each race.
“There’s about six of us that come up every year,” said standing outside the Richmond International Raceway. “We come up twice a year, both for the spring and fall race. My buddy lives up here in the Richmond area, so there’s a group of us and we just started doing it a few years ago.”
Like many other Hardcore Race Fans, racing was in Haines’ blood. His father got him into the sport at a young age, and now Haines has continued the tradition. “I grew up racing,” Haines told me. “My dad’s a motor head. It’s just what I grew up with, me and my brother, just what we grew up with.” His father’s racing interest spanned many forms of motorsports, not just NASCAR. Yet, even at a young age, Zeb could be found in the grandstand of many a Cup Series race. “My dad’s old school,” he added. “Just an old school motor head, he’s got a drag car. There’s a picture of me when I’m three years old at the Charlotte Motor Speedway eating some chicken and I’m in diapers. Just what I like, what I do, I grew up with it.” After working at Lowe’s for ten years, Haines pulls for Jimmie Johnson each time he heads to the track or watches from home. The main rabble-rouser at this particular tailgate, Zeb Haines is a Hardcore Race Fan through and through. MORE NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES NEWS
