NASCAR has always been considered an extremely fan-friendly sport. Fans are allowed into the garage area at the track with special passes and they can listen to radio chatter through headsets or on the Internet. Currently, there are very few places still restricted to fans and Sprint is trying to change that by opening up the pre-race driver’s meeting to fans this weekend.
For the first time in NASCAR history, Sprint plans to broadcast the driver’s meeting to its customers via their NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile application as well as through the NASCAR Sprint FanView devices available for rent or purchase at the track.
“The driver/crew chief meeting is one of the few areas in NASCAR still closed to the public,” Steve Gaffney, director of sports and entertainment marketing for Sprint said. “The driver meeting is about as ‘inside’ as one can get, and we take a great deal of pride in using our technology and position in the sport to deliver this unique experience to NASCAR fans.” Along with the driver’s meeting, SPEED’s TV broadcast of the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge, which aired Thursday evening, and the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race XXV, airing Saturday evening, will be streamed to Sprint customers via the NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile application. “The NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race has long been considered a signature event for the sport, and we have partnered with SPEED to ensure fans can watch the race regardless of their location,” said Gaffney. “The latest advancements with NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile are an excellent demonstration of how the Now Network can instantly put the world of NASCAR at our subscriber’s fingertips.” NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile is available with data plans at an additional charge on capable Sprint phones. To download the application text NASCAR to 7777 on Sprint phones (standard rates apply) or visit www.sprint.com/speed for more information. MORE NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES NEWS
