Another NASCAR weekend…another rainy day.
Activity at the Pocono Raceway has begun buzzing this morning with crews preparing for the weekend’s events, but once again rain is in the forecast. The radar map is showing nothing but green around the track as showers hit up and down the east coast.
On the schedule for Friday are one practice session and one lap of qualifying for the ARCA RE/MAX Series, along with one practice and two laps of qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. With rain threatening the day’s activities, it appears Friday may be a wash. If rain cancels qualifying for Sunday’s Pocono 500, Tony Stewart will sit on the pole with Jeff Gordon to his outside. With forty-six cars on the entry list, rain would send three cars – Tony Raines, Mike Wallace and Derrike Cope – home from the show without getting a chance to make an attempt to get in the race.
Nothing has been announced as of yet, but the radar and the forecast is not looking good for Friday. Things are looking better as far as Saturday is concerned; however there is a chance of rain in the forecast for Sunday.
