Receiving applications from schools in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia The North Carolina Motorsports Association (NCMA) chose 24 rising high school juniors and seniors to participate in a week-long motorsports camp lasting from June 15-19.

The Motorsports Institute Summer Camp will be hosted by the NCMA in partnership with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers-Education Foundation (SME-EF), and the curriculum and camp management will be administrated by Ten80Education’s Fast Track RC team.

The camp will be held at Central Piedmont Community College and Charlotte area motorsports venues. The happenings at the camp will not be archetypal of a classroom environment. The students will use RC Cars to learn hands-on the parallel of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) as it connects to Motorsports and Manufacturing.

The students will tested to design and construct some of the pieces of the RC Car in addition to solving problems in relation to manufacturing, design and engineering in a competitive racing environment. Students will also get to intermingle with professionals in the motorsports field in their own facilities such as Stewart-Haas Racing, 600-Racing, Hendrick Motorsports and the wind tunnel at Windshear.

The camp will close with a competition at the Hendrick Motorsports facility in Concord, North Carolina. Family members of the campers, students, educators, media and public officials are encouraged to attend and can contact the NCMA for further details.
