nascar-hall-of-fameThe NASCAR Hall of Fame has announced May 11, 2010 as the grand opening date for the much anticipated facility currently under construction in the uptown area of Charlotte, North Carolina.

"It's going to be at 10 a.m. on May 11, 2010, and we're going to have a great opening," said Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory.

Hall of Fame officials have unveiled three new artifacts that will be on display when it opens next spring. The items include the blazer that Ned Jarrett wore while he commentated the 1993 Daytona 500, a reproduction of a Charlotte Speedway track poster from 1924 and an original entry blank from the first-ever NASCAR Strictly Stock series event, held June 19, 1949, at Charlotte Speedway.
