Kasey Kahne surprised everyone, including himself, when he won the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway on Sunday. Kahne’s team owner, Richard Petty, paid Kahne a visit in Victory Lane to congratulate him on his great performance. The driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge’s triumph was made possible due to successfully holding off a hard charging Tony Stewart through four late race restarts.
"It was crazy," Kahne said of the closing laps. "Stewart's as good as they get out here. I got to restart beside him four times, five times and cautions kept coming out. We were able to hold him off. He was giving me tons of room so I didn't get rubber on my tires, which is normal Stewart, the guy is awesome to race with. One of my favorite race car drivers."
Australian Marcos Ambrose made a late race charge to come home third, Jimmie Johnson fourth and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-5. Polesitter Brian Vickers finished 16th and outside front row starter Kyle Busch had a rough day on the road course, finishing 22nd. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 set for this Sunday, June 28 at 12:30pm EST. MORE NASCAR NEWS
