Heading into the off weekend for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the drivers all have their own way of spending their week away from Sprint Cup action.
Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Reed Sorenson and Kevin Harvick will be participating in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Gateway International Speedway on Saturday night. A.J. Allmendinger will have his fingers crossed this weekend. Going to Las Vegas to clear his mind, Allmendinger looks ahead to Indianapolis so he can earn his money back should Lady Luck not have his side at ‘Sin City’.
”I’m headed to Las Vegas for the weekend. It will be fun just to get away from racing for a few days, clear my mind, then get back after it at Indianapolis. That’s a huge race for us,” said Allmendinger. “The purse at Indy pays a lot of bills and it’s a race that can create a lot of momentum for the rest of the season.” Rookie of the Year contender Scott Speed will be getting married to his fiancée on Saturday, becoming NASCAR’s newest newlywed.
Beginning to organize his charity golf tournament in August, Clint Bowyer made the trip back home to Kansas to spend time with his family. Elliott Sadler plans on venturing to arguably the Carolina’s most popular beaches this weekend. Sharing time with his golfing shoes and bathing suit, Sadler will spend his time on the golf course and playing with his family on the beach. Looking forward to getting the sand between his toes, the driver of the No. 19 Richard Petty Motorsports Dodge hopes to be prepared to have a solid second half of the season. "I'm honestly just going to take it easy and go to the beach,” Sadler stated. “I'm headed down to Myrtle Beach (S.C.) with family to play on the beach with my family and all the kids, playing some golf and really just trying to take advantage of the time off to reset my batteries and get ready to head into the second half of the season strong."
