Biffle Races To The Top
Friday, 24 July 2009 14:34

greg-biffleNASCAR Sprint Cup Series action has jumped off at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and it was Greg Biffle who took the lead in the series' opening practice on Friday afternoon with a fast lap of 50.826 and a speed of 177.075 miles per hour.

Biffle currently sits in the 13th spot in the point standings, one spot out of the Chase cutoff. With 10 points seperating himself and his teammate Matt Kenseth in the 12th position, a win at 'The Brickyard' should certainly be the boost he needs to jump back into contention.

juan-pablo-montoyaJuan Pablo Montoya earned a second place effort at a track that he has grown familiar with. Driving the No. 42 Target Chevrolet around Indianapolis in 50.954 seconds with a peak speed of 176.630 miles per hour, Montoya may be a driver to keep an eye on once the green flag drops.

Running a part-time schedule this season, Bill Elliott started his eighth race with a thrid place lap in the series' first practice session. Brian Vickers and Ryan Newman concluded the top-5.

Bobby Labonte, David Ragan, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and AJ Allmendinger finished out the top-10.
