Qualifying for Sunday's Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the Pocono Raceway was canceled earlier today due to rain. NASCAR has set the starting lineup according to owner's points, placing Tony Stewart on the pole with Jimmy Johnson starting from outside of row one.
Stewart won the Pocono 500 last month and would like nothing better than to make a clean sweep at the triangular track in Pennsylvania.
"You don't have to be on the pole to win here," Stewart said. "It's obviously a lot easier if you can start up front and don't have to pass 42 cars to get there, but it's not a deal breaker if you have to start 43rd. We proved that last time." Johnson was disappointed with his second place starting position. "I feel like we had a really good car for qualifying," Johnson said. "Second isn't bad at all, but I feel like we had a shot at the pole today." Four time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon will start from inside of row two, Kurt Busch will line up fourth and Carl Edwards fifth. Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin and Juan Pablo Montoya will start from positions six through 10. Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 Starting Line Up MORE NASCAR NEWS
