Written by Lindsey Marks

marcus-smithFor hardcore race fans in the Charlotte area, Lowe’s Motor Speedway is presenting their fall schedule to the public in a loud way. Today at noon 22,000 horsepower will make some noise through Uptown Charlotte.

Race vehicles from each of the major series that are scheduled to race at LMS, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track will rumble north on Tryon street between Third and Trade in the Parade of Power.

The parade will include a Sprint Cup Series car, a Nationwide Series car, a World of Outlaws sprint car, a World of Outlaws late model, a Monster Truck, a NHRA Top Fuel dragster, a NHRA Funny Car, a NHRA Pro Stock car, a NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle and a Toyota Camry pace car. To top it off, this raucous group will be led by LMS mascot Lug Nut in his Legends car.

NASCAR driver Jeff Burton, NHRA Top Fuel driver Doug Herbert, NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle driver Matt Smith and President and General Manager of Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Marcus Smith,  will participate in the event. There will be a press conference and a fan forum on the Bank of America plaza at the corner of Trade and Tryon streets after the parade and the race cars will be on display for photo opportunities.

The parade begins at noon today.
