jimmie-johnson-kurt-buschFor the second weekend in a row the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race has been postponed until Monday morning. The 43 car field was seconds away from the command to fire the engines when lightening in the distance forced NASCAR to pull out the car covers and attempt to wait out the coming storm.

With rain increasing in the area, the sanctioning body decided to postpone the event. The Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen will be run Monday afternoon with the green flag scheduled to fall shortly after noon. When the race gets underway Jimmie Johnson will lead the field to the green with Kurt Busch to his outside.

There has only been one NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race run on Monday at Watkins Glen with Rusty Wallace taking the win in 1987. Monday’s race will be televised live on ESPN.
