Michigan International Speedway has announced the National Anthem singer and the grand marshals for this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400. RCA Nashville recording artist and country music star Chris Young will sing the National Anthem during pre-race festivities on Sunday. Young, who was recently named Country’s Hottest Bachelor by the readers of Country Weekly, will also perform in the speedway’s hospitality club prior to the Sprint Cup Series event.
“I’m really honored to be chosen to sing the national anthem at Michigan International Speedway,” Young said. "I'm such a huge fan of NASCAR. I'm not sure if I'm more excited about performing on Sunday or just being there to see the race!" Michigan International Speedway has previously had country music stars perform the National Anthem including LeAnn Rimes, Josh Turner and SHeDAISY. Jordan and Jacob Vanderstel will serve as grand marshals for Sunday’s event. The Vanderstel’s are teenage brothers from Hudsonville, MI who have been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. The boys are huge NASCAR fans; Jordan’s favorite driver is Jimmie Johnson and Jacob’s favorite is Jeff Gordon. “We couldn’t have better representatives to help us kick off both races,” Larry Gamache, communications director at CARFAX, said. “Jordan and Jacob are great kids whose excitement and enthusiasm typifies what NASCAR fans can expect this weekend at MIS.” Hardcore race fans can get tickets for the ‘Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend’ through www.mispeedway.com or by calling the speedway’s ticket hotline at 800-354-1010.
