NASCAR Night will return to zMAX Dragway, the Bellagio of drag strips, on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 with several NASCAR drivers, car owners and mechanics scheduled to participate. This year, there's a new twist-participants can race anything they wish down the drag strip, making this a true "run what you brung" event. "I've had a lot of fun at zMAX Dragway over the past year racing my 2007 Shelby GT 500," said Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford. "Without a doubt, the highlight for me was racing in front of a packed house at PINKS All Out back in April. It's sort of rekindled the old drag racing bug for me. As a teenager I'd race Wednesday night grudge matches on the eighth-mile back home. We've been able to get the Shelby GT down to about 10 (seconds) flat and I hope to break into the nine-second range on Tuesday. With the 'run what you brung' format there's no telling what some of these guys will bring to the dragway."
The zMAX Dragway is located in Race Country USA, just across the street from the Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. NASCAR Night is open to the public and hardcore race fans are invited to attend. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with the on-track action heating up at 6 p.m. Admission to NASCAR Night is free with proof of purchase at the gate to either the NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America or the second annual NHRA Carolinas Nationals. Hardcore race fans who do not have a ticket to either event may donate $5 to Speedway Children's Charities upon entry. The Speedway ticket office can be reached by calling 1-800-455-FANS or by logging on to www.lowesmotorspeedway.com. MORE NASCAR NEWS
