Martin Truex, Jr. and Jimmie Johnson were fastest in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice sessions at the Bristol Motor Speedway this afternoon.

Truex clocked in at 122.014 mph to lead the early session with Johnson turning a quick lap of 123.316 mph in happy hour.

David Gilliland, Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola and Scott Speed rounded out the top five in the first practice while Mark Martin, Marcos Ambrose, Jeff Gordon and Greg Biffle completed the top five in the final practice session of the day.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying for Saturday night's Sharpie 500 is scheduled to begin at 5:40 p.m. ET today.
