NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran Mark Martin has secured his 6th pole of the season with a fast lap of 21.292 seconds at 126.808mph.
Martin is hoping to have a good finish in tomorrow night’s Chevy Rock & Roll 400 so that he can secure a berth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and starting on the pole should help him with that.
Martin Truex Jr., who only has 11 more races left with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, will start on the outside pole after running a lap of 21.305 seconds. The Nationwide Series pole sitter, Denny Hamlin, will pull double-duty this weekend and he will start 3rd in the Sprint Cup Series event. Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne round out the top-5. Brian Vicker, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch will start the race 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively. Go-or-go-home driver Brad Keselowski, who will run full-time in the Sprint Cup Series next year, will start 9th. Carl Edwards, despite his broke right foot, qualified 10th. The Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway is scheduled to broadcast on ABC tomorrow night at 7pm ET. CHEVY ROCK & ROLL 400 QUALIFYING RESULTS MORE NASCAR NEWS
