Going into the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway, Jimmie Johnson was already locked into this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. Johnson has made the Chase every year since its inception and he is the defending Sprint Cup Series champion three years running. The one thing on Johnson’s mind this year is a record-breaking 4th consecutive championship.
Johnson finished 11th at Richmond and now sits 3rd in the recalculated Chase point standings. He is tied with Tony Stewart at 5030 points. Last year, Johnson was also 3rd after Richmond and he managed his to get to the top and win his 3rd consecutive championship. The question is, can he do it again?
