On October 14th, 2009, the NASCAR Hall of Fame will announce the five inductees for its inaugural class.
The Hall of Fame is currently being built in Charlotte, NC and is scheduled to open on May 11, 2010.
25 nominees were announced for the five inductee positions earlier this year. The class will be chosen from 51 votes cast by the NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel and a fan vote through NASCAR.com.
In honor of this historic event, HardcoreRaceFans.com was granted exclusive interviews with both Winston Kelley, the Executive Director of the Hall of Fame, and Albert “Buz” McKim, the Hall of Fame’s Historian.
From those interviews, HardcoreRaceFans.com and video creator Rick Hodson have compiled 25 videos, one for each of the nominees. The videos will run, one each day, in a series from now through October 14th, the day of the inaugural class announcement.
Today marks the beginning of the series and the first video features Bobby Allison.
Allison and other members of his family, including his brother Donnie Allison and his son’s Clifford and Davey, were all involved in NASCAR.
Allison was the 1983 Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) Series Champion, he is third on the all-time win list, he won the Most Popular Driver Award six times, he won the Daytona 500 three times and he has previously been inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame, the Eastern Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame and the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
