Hall of Fame Nominees – Dale Earnhardt
Thursday, 24 September 2009 11:32

The name Dale Earnhardt, with his famous No. 3, is synonymous with NASCAR.

The “Intimidator” brought the sport to a whole new level when he arrived at the Cup level in the 70’s. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 1979 and won his first Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) Series championship just one year later.

His hard-charging, rough-and-tumble, intimidating driving style made him unique, as did his natural born talent behind the wheel.

With a total of 76 career victories and 7 Cup championships, he is without a doubt, one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history.

Tragically, his life was cut short on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 and NASCAR will never be the same.
