“Gentleman Ned” Jarrett made the most of his career in NASCAR.
With two Cup Series championships to his name and 50 wins that tie him with Junior Johnson for the 10th-place position on the all-time win list, Jarrett was a true success behind the wheel.
There are countless stories about Jarrett’s stamina in a race car, such as when he went on racing while suffering a bank injury to win his second title in 1965, along with 13 wins and 42 top-5’s in the 54 starts that season.
After giving up the steering wheel, Jarrett became a broadcaster. One of the most memorable race days in his broadcasting career was when he called the 1993 Daytona 500; his son Dale Jarrett won the race that day and then went on to win the 1999 Cup Series championship.
