Ask.com Fight Against Breast Cancer
Thursday, 01 October 2009 23:00

bobby-labonteAsk.com has announced a first-of-its-kind online memorial that provides consumers with the opportunity to honor their loved ones affected by breast cancer.  Ask.com is allowing consumers to take over its homepage for the next 24 hours, able to add personal tributes to honor survivors, those living with breast cancer and in special memory of those lost to the disease.

Bobby Labonte, driver of the Ask.com No. 96 race car and the Ask.com race team will honor those affected by the disease with a special Susan G. Komen-themed paint scheme during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on October 17th.

“I don’t have anyone in my immediate family that I know that has had Breast cancer, but I know someone who knows someone who has had it.  I think you see a lot of that.  It affects everybody in some way.  It might not be directly, but indirectly.  It is a small world and this happens too much.  If we can help one person it’s worth it,” said Bobby Labonte.

Other teams will be running pink paint schemes to recognize some drastically scarier Breast Cancer Awareness Month statistics.  According to the American Cancer Society one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their life.  465,000 moms, wives and daughters will die of breast cancer in the U.S. this year alone.

To join the fight to end breast cancer visit Ask.com.  The initiative is easy, educational and free, from September 13, 2009 through December 31, 2009; Ask.com will donate up to $100,000 in conjunction with consumers who participate in the Search for the Cure program by adopting the special homepage skin and answering breast health questions.  Ask.com has pledged to invest at least $l million by December 31, 2010 through this program and sponsorship of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series.
