Martin, Earnhardt, Jr. Take Kansas Front Row

mark-martinMark Martin earned the pole for Sunday's Price Chopper 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race after turning a lap at 175.758 mph in qualifying this afternoon at the Kansas Speedway.

 

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. grabbed the outside pole with a speed of 175.279, his best qualifying effort of the 2009 season. Brad Keselowski clocked in at 175.205 to take the third starting spot which gives Hendrick Motorsports a sweep of the top three starting positions.

 

 

Jamie McMurray qualified the #26 Roush Fenway Ford fourth while Tony Stewart completed the top five qualifiers.

Kasey Kahne, Joe Nemechek, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon and Scott Speed will line up sixth through tenth on Sunday's grid.

 

Martin, a five time winner this year, currently leads the Chase for the Sprint Cup point standings by 10 points over defending series champion Jimmie Johnson.

 

The Price Chopper 400 will be broadcast Sunday, October 4, 2009 on ABC-TV with coverage beginning at 1 pm ET.
