Jimmie Johnson, the defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, was the fastest in the final two practice sessions for tomorrow’s Price Chopper 400 presented by Kraft Foods at Kansas Speedway.
In the second session earlier this afternoon, Johnson was the only driver to top the 173 mph mark. He ran a fast lap of 31.144 seconds at 173.388 mph, while second place Denny Hamlin had a lap time of 31.291 seconds at 172.574 mph.
Johnson was back down to 172 mph in the final practice session with a lap time of 31.217 seconds at 172.983 mph. Mark Martin, who finished 2nd in this session and is the current series points leader with a 10 point lead over Johnson in the standings, ran a fast lap of 31.240 seconds at 172.855 mph.  Matt Kenseth ended both of today’s sessions in 3rd. David Reutimann and Tony Stewart finished 4th and 5th in the first session today, while Juan Pablo Montoya and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top-5 in the final practice. In the early session, Joey Logano, Bowyer, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne completed the top-10. Gordon, Brian Vickers, Logano, Jamie McMurray and Carl Edwards made up the second half of the top-10 in the final practice. The Price Chopper 400 is scheduled to broadcast on ABC tomorrow at 1pm ET.
