Herb Thomas drove the Fabulous Hudson Hornet in NASCAR’s Grand National Division (now Sprint Cup Series).

Thomas was the first driver to win two Cup championships, which he won in 1951 and ’53. In ’52 and ’54, Thomas finished 2nd in the point standings giving him a top-2 championship finish for all four years.

Out of the 228 Series starts, he earned 48 wins which puts him 12th on the all-time wins list.

In 1956, Thomas was seriously injured in a crash that ultimately ended his career. He only made two starts the following year and one more in 1962.
