Curtis Turner was another one of the early NASCAR greats. He won the first of his 17 career victories in only his 6th start.

He competed in the Grand National Division as well as NASCAR’s Convertible Division in 1956, in which he won 22 races.

He still holds the record for winning two consecutive races from the pole and leading every lap.

Turner was called the “Babe Ruth of stock-car racing” and he drove for some of the greatest car owners including Junior Johnson and the Wood Brothers.
