As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Alabama for this weekend’s AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, the contenders in the Chase for the Sprint Cup worry about whether the ‘big one’ will help or hinder their championship quest.

Mark Martin, who is currently trailing series points leader Jimmie Johnson by 118 points, knows that this race could make or break his title hopes. Martin has never won a Cup Series title but has been the runner-up four times throughout his career.

Carl Edwards is hoping to benefit from the unpredictability that Dega is known for. If the other top contenders have bad luck on Sunday he may be able to gain points on them, however, the unpredictability has cost him in the past.

Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya and last weekend’s race winner Denny Hamlin are also both excited for and dreading this weekend’s event at Talladega.
