international-motorsports-hall-of-fameThe International Motorsports Hall of Fame, located in Talladega, Al, has postponed its 2010 induction ceremony until 2011.

This ceremony is the 20th induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame and the delay was necessary to give the historic event the celebration it deserves. The opening of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC in May of 2010 was also taken into consideration.

“The board of directors at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame decided that as a sign of respect for the 20th induction class and the inaugural class at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, we would delay our 2010 induction ceremony,” Gerald Dial, Chairman of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame Board of Directors, said.  “We are very aware of the symbolism behind our 20th class and want to make sure that we do the event justice.  We also felt it was important to give the NASCAR Hall of Fame ample time to promote their inaugural class.  We are proud of our association with NASCAR and the role it has played in our Hall of Fame and Museum and we just felt like this was the right thing to do. We couldn’t be more excited for them and their inaugural class, as all five of their initial inductees are already members of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.”

Voting for the IMHOF’s platinum anniversary class has already been completed and will be announced in April. 125 media members from across the globe vote on the Hall of Fame inductees.international-motorsports-hall-of-fame

The IMHOF was opened in 1983 and the inaugural class was enshrined in 1990. So far, 132 personalities in the Motorsports industry have been inducted.
