Clint Bowyer had the fast time in the Dickies 500 first practice session running at a top speed of 189.381 mph while posting a 28.514 second lap to top the charts.  Greg Biffle ran second fastest with a speed of 188.706 mph.

Two Hendrick cars ran third and fourth fastest. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon ran almost identical lap times in practice one, only seperated by one one-thousanth of a second.

 Carl Edwards rounded out the top-5, his Aflac Ford posted a time of 28.665.

Kurt Busch, David Ragan, Jeff Burton, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top-10.
