David Reutimann, in his No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota, earned the top spot in the second practice session for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway.
His fast lap of 28.906 seconds at 186.812mph bested Chase for the Sprint Cup contender Tony Stewart, who had a lap time of 28.921 seconds which was good enough for second in the second session. Juan Pablo Montoya and the Busch brothers, with Kyle ahead of Kurt, rounded out the top-five, followed by Kasey Kahne in 6th, Denny Hamlin in 7th, and Matt Kenseth in 8th. Mark Martin, who is second in the series points, ended the session in 9th followed by the series points leader Jimmie Johnson in 10th.
Johnson bettered his practice time in the final practice for the Sprint Cup Series today with a fast lap of 28.928 seconds at 186.670mph, good enough to put his No. 48 Lowe’s/KOBALT Tools Chevrolet in the top spot after that last session. Chasers Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Greg Biffle ended the final session in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, behind Johnson, followed by veteran Bill Elliott in 5th. David Ragan and Robby Gordon ended the last practice session in 6th and7th, respectively. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Reutimann and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top-10 in the final practice.
